Hi, I’m Shirley Wang

I migrated to Melbourne at the age of 13 and have called the Boroondara area home ever since.

My connection with hearing care started long before I became an audiologist. Growing up, my parents were often busy, so I spent a lot of time with my grandparents. My grandfather had a significant hearing loss and did not wear hearing aids, so from a young age I understood how hearing loss can affect everyday family life — the repeated conversations, the raised voices, the missed comments, and sometimes the frustration that comes with trying to communicate.

Because of him, I grew up learning to speak loudly and clearly — perhaps a little too loudly at times, as some people like to remind me.

I first studied Biomedicine as my undergraduate degree, where I developed a strong interest in human health and how the body works. I later chose to pursue Clinical Audiology because hearing loss is common on my mother’s side of the family, and I wanted to work in a field where science, technology and genuine patient care come together.

For me, audiology is not just about hearing aids. It is about understanding each person’s story, their family, their lifestyle, and the moments they want to reconnect with. I believe good hearing care should feel personal, honest and supportive — and that starts with knowing your audiologist.
